Jammu. The study of NCC subject will be started from this session in Central University and Scost Jammu. NCC officer Dr. Pankaj Mehta told that under the new National Education Policy 2020, NCC subject will be started in the university. It will be compulsory for NCC cadets to study the subject, but other students will also be able to study as an inter optional. Now theory will also be taught along with field work.
Retired army officers or experts will teach the students. On December 1, 2020, VC Prof. Flag handling was done for NCC course under the leadership of Ashok Aima. A boys wing was allotted on November 1, 2020. Dr. Pankaj said that the international border at Samba is located 15 km from the Central University of Jammu. The goal of the Modi government is to conduct NCC courses in higher educational institutions of marginal and remote areas. The university has worked tirelessly to make this a reality. He said that at present five NCC cadets of Central University are undergoing training at Nagrota Camp. The camp will continue till October 18. Apart from this, this course will also be started in Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences (SCOST), Jammu from the same session. SCOST Jammu Dean Student Welfare Prof. Vikram told that preparations have been made to start the course. According to the instructions of the University Grants Commission, along with the NCC cadets, the rest of the students will be able to study the NCC course. GGM Science College’s NCC officer Dr. Anjana said that there is no preparation to conduct NCC course in the cluster university from this session, but from the next session, courses will be started in all the colleges under the university.
